Minecraft 1.6.0 - What's New?
Mojang and Microsoft continue to improve Minecraft Bedrock Edition for all current platforms, and today they released update 1.6.0, which adds phantoms and barrier blocks to the game, along with fixing a ton of various bugs!

New Features:
- Phantoms will spawn in the night sky if the player hasn't slept for three days!
- Barrier blocks
- Great for map makers who want to restrict players and mobs to a certain area
- Can be placed in Creative mode and are invisible in Survival and Adventure mode!
- Can only be obtained using '/give @p barrier'
Changes:
- You can now navigate menus and inventory using buttons that can be remapped in the game settings
- The gamepad can now be used to scroll through book pages
- Added the 'doinsomnia' game rule, which toggles phantom spawning
- Updated achievement notification icons and invite icons for Nintendo Switch
- Reduced mouse sensitivity
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed several crashes that occurred during gameplay
- Fixed a bug that occurred when using Pick Block on a spot where a mob died
- Fixed a bug that occurred when players spawned and the spawn point was set every tick
- Fixed a bug that occurred when joining a game and loading Greek mythology textures
- Increased menu loading speed
Main:
- Fixed achievements "Ahoy!" and "Atlantis?" on Nintendo Switch
- Fixed a bug that caused duplicate actions on touch screens
- Fixed buttons that stopped working after exiting sleep mode
- Fixed export for Remix3D
Gameplay:
- Fireworks now give the correct boost with elytra again
- Sneaking on ladders will no longer stop when opening the pause menu or inventory
- Fixed dolphin speed when wearing armor with the Depth Strider enchantment
- Resistance no longer protects against Wither effect
- Players will no longer get stuck in blocks while swimming
- You can now return to the Overworld if there is an End portal at the spawn point
Items:
- Buckets now stack correctly
- Fixed a vulnerability that allowed obtaining the "Water" item
- Fixed a vulnerability that allowed duplicating items using the recipe book
Mobs:
- Guardians no longer attack fish
- Fixed guardian spawning even when mob spawning was disabled
- The Ender Dragon will no longer disappear or die without reason
- Drowned now have an easier time attacking players swimming above them
- Fixed issues where strays and skeletons couldn't leave water to attack the player
- Wolves will no longer get stuck when attacking skeletons underwater
- Parrots will no longer ride on donkeys and mules
- Blazes now attack snow golems
- Elder guardians now drop sponges
- Fixed mob spawner when converting worlds from Console Edition
- Hostile mobs can no longer attack in any direction while in a boat
- Dolphins will no longer attack players through solid blocks
- Foals, donkey foals, and mule foals can no longer pass through solid blocks
- Creepers will no longer remain white or flash rapidly upon death
- Creatures following a target will now correctly navigate over slabs
- Used chests can now be used for mules and llamas
Blocks:
- Kelp can now be placed on most blocks
- Kelp planted by the player will now grow
- Chemistry blocks from the world will no longer break when loaded into a Realm
- Observers now detect changes in dispensers, droppers, brewing stands, farmland, sugar cane, and grass blocks
- Fuel in brewing stands now correctly converts from Console Edition worlds
- Activating the End portal now causes block changes inside the portal
- Fixed hitbox of rails
- Ground plants can no longer be placed underwater
- Command blocks now correctly conduct redstone power
- Fixed a vulnerability that allowed duplicating rails
- Fixed cactus hitbox
Realms:
- The Realm owner will no longer count toward the player limit
- Improved error messaging when trying to join a Realm via a link with an outdated game version
Graphics:
- Improved trident throwing animation
- Cocoa beans now display correctly when using HD resource packs
- Field of view can now be adjusted again when the "Field of view can change during gameplay" option is disabled
- Fixed rendering of redstone dust on the sides of glass blocks
- Fixed Ender chests that were converting into normal chests with Ender chest particles after world conversion from Console Edition
- Leads will no longer flicker in split-screen mode
- Enchanted arrow particles will no longer float in water
- Water bottle icons will no longer have red liquid on Android devices
- Players will no longer hover over minecarts
- Underwater fog will no longer be removed when swimming through some blocks
Sound:
- Reduced volume of "air attack" and "mob attack" sound effects
- Fixed duplicate sounds for breaking boats, minecarts, paintings, and armor
Interface:
- Items can now be crafted from the recipe book again while the "Can craft" filter is off and the player has enough materials for only one item
- Quick-moving item stacks in inventory will no longer leave items in slots
- The "Cancel" button now appears on Windows 10 when connecting to a cross-platform world
- The player will no longer break blocks when opening a book and quill
- The gamepad cursor can now be used to navigate the villager interface
- Fixed display of the worn Dragon Head in inventory
- Fixed quick-moving items from the hotbar
- Pressing Enter in the inventory no longer moves the cursor in/out of text fields and no longer drops/picks up items
- Levers now have a "Use" tooltip for gamepads
Commands:
- Using the '/fill doors' command will no longer fill the area with air blocks
- Using the '/setblock' command now correctly updates redstone mechanisms
- Slabs with the 'can_place_on' tag can now be placed in Adventure mode again
Add-Ons:
- Updated packs for 1.6
- Fixed fish textures
- 'minecraft:behavior.player_ride_tamed' now overrides all other AI goals
- 'movement.sway' now allows mobs to move correctly again
