Minecraft Beta 1.16.100.54 - What's New?
A new test version of Minecraft PE (Bedrock) Beta 1.16.100.54 has been released for Android, Windows 10, and Xbox One, with more parity with Java Edition and bug fixes!

Performance and Stability:
- Fixed an issue where the game could crash if a player joined while their character was sleeping.
- Fixed a crash that occurred after killing an Elder Guardian and Guardian.
- Fixed a crash that sometimes occurred when using fireworks to boost flight with elytra.
Version Parity:
- Chains can now be placed horizontally.
- Striders with riders can now be tamed.
- When zombified, Piglins now drop their inventory items.
- Killing a Piglin Brute now gives 20 experience instead of 10.
- A Piglin now retains its equipment when zombified.
- Lanterns can now be placed underwater and do not break when a water source block is placed on them.
- Piglins in Bedrock now offer the same items for bartering as in Java Edition.
- Soul fire now does not melt snow and ice blocks.
- Campfires with soul fire now deal twice as much damage as normal campfires.
- Zombified Piglin no longer floats above Strider while riding.
- Warped fungi can now grow in Crimson Forests on Bedrock.
- Baby Zoglins and Baby Hoglins now have drops after death.
- Wither Skeletons now automatically attack Piglins and Piglin Brutes.
- Hoglins now flee from Respawn Anchors.
- Iron Golems now attack Hoglins.
- Zoglins now take damage from healing effects and are healed by harmful effects.
- If ruined portal chests contain Glistering Melons, they no longer contain only one Glistering Melon.
- Zombified Piglins that have ridden Striders now hold a Warped Fungus on a Stick in their hand.
- Piglin Brutes no longer have enchanted golden axes.
- Nether sprouts can be used in a composter again.
- The Soul Speed enchantment found in chests is now limited to bastion remnant chests.
- Netherite armor items no longer lose durability when standing on magma blocks.
- Campfires with soul fire now drop soul soil instead of charcoal.
- Strider health is now consistent with Java Edition.
- Piglins can now equip shields, elytra, turtle shells, and various mob heads.
- Piglin Brutes no longer get angry when certain blocks are destroyed; they always attack players.
- Zombified Baby Piglins now correctly display items they are holding.
- Crafting pistons now works correctly with warped and crimson planks.
- Baby Hoglins now deal appropriate damage.
- Piglins now naturally spawn in Nether Wastes on Peaceful difficulty.
General:
- Updated splashes and tooltips.
- Fixed map colors for new blocks.
- Nether and warped wart blocks are no longer in the expanded creative inventory section.
- Totem of Undying now gives the correct effects after death.
- Loading screen tooltips now contain punctuation.
Gameplay:
- Mobs can no longer power minecarts they are standing on.
- Fixed a bug where players and mobs did not take damage when walking through sweet berry bushes.
- Slimes can climb ladders again.
- Fixed an issue where ladders did not display in certain cases when placed adjacent to each other.
- Killing mobs with projectiles while they are wearing armor now causes the armor to drop.
- A compass with a custom name keeps its name when linked to a Lodestone.
- Lodestone Compasses can now be enchanted with Curse of Vanishing using an anvil.
- Compasses with Curse of Vanishing now keep their enchantment when linked to a Lodestone.
- Slimes now spawn in slime chunks within frozen biomes.
- Iron pickaxes can now drop from raid mobs.
- Brown and red mushrooms can now be grown into huge mushrooms on nylium blocks.
- Crimson and warped fungi can now be placed on mycelium.
Graphics:
- Striders now have separate texture mapping for each leg, and their leg textures are properly mirrored.
- Created an updated biomes_client.json file for 1.16.100 that links each biome to a fog definition identifier.
- Added the '/fog' command to control fog settings for players.
- Created JSON files for each fog that contain "fog_start", "fog_end", "fog_color", and "render_distance_type" settings.
- Added a child object "volumetric" that contains "density" and "media_coefficients" objects. They contain data values used for volumetric fog.
- The beta includes Render Dragon for Windows 10.
- The beta includes OpenXR for W10 VR:
- The VR part of the game is being reworked to work with Render Dragon, with new optimized features that have not yet been ported to the new rendering system. As a result, performance drops may occur in various gameplay scenarios.
- For W10 VR, input work is still ongoing, including mouse input.
- Oculus players may experience issues with pausing and resuming the game.
Technical Changes:
- MoveToLiquidGoal has been changed to use data for its target block.
- Striders now correctly perform move_to_liquid.
minecraft:behavior.send_event changes:
- minecraft:behavior.send_event no longer uses -1 for max_activation_range to indicate unlimited range; the default value has been changed to 32.
- Added content log warning messages for cases where min_activation_range and max_activation_range are less than 0.
- Added content log warning messages for cases where min_activation_range is greater than max_activation_range.
query.spellcolor:
- Fixed a discrepancy where the default return type of the script function differed from the normal return type.
SendEventGoal:
- Fixed a crash that could occur if SendEventGoal is defined with incomplete JSON fields.
- Fixed a crash that could occur if a SendEventGoal stage is defined with a delay of 0.
