A new beta version, Minecraft 1.21.90.26 for Android, has been released! The developers continue to polish various game details, and this week we got new sounds for different actions and visual improvements. There are over 20 changes and 30 bug fixes.
Changes
- New custom sounds now play when leashing, unleashing, collecting leashed mobs, or attaching one mob to another.
- The /controlscheme command no longer requires experimental toggles.
- Overworld Chunk Blending has been re-enabled after being disabled in the previous version.
- Projectile hitboxes now change over time:
- At first, projectiles have no extra collision tolerance.
- Starting from the third tick, the margin increases by 0.05 blocks per tick, up to a maximum of 0.3 blocks.
- This makes hitting close targets more precise, while still keeping some leeway for distant targets as before.
- Realm owners can now require members to opt in to Timeline (Realm Stories) in order to join:
- If enabled, members who do not opt in cannot play but remain listed as members.
- This option can be toggled on or off at any time.
- The Realm owner can always play, regardless of their Timeline status.
- Removing saddles, horse armor, harnesses, and carpets with shears now plays custom sounds.
- The Storage settings page is now scrollable.
- Added beautiful new lighting, fog, and color effects to various worlds and biomes to make the game more vibrant and atmospheric.
- Some atmospheric issues in The End and Nether remain.
- Emissive textures now appear more natural and accurate.
- The size of the Blaze and Breeze spawn eggs has been reduced to better match the actual mobs.
- Shadow rendering has been improved in Performance mode on Xbox for smoother gameplay.
- The Happy Ghast's appearance is now slightly smaller to prevent visual overlap with water or adjacent blocks.
- This only affects visuals and not collision.
- Horses, Donkeys, and Mules can now eat carrots to heal, grow, and improve their temper.
- Music now fades out gradually when leaving a world, if pause is disabled.
- The clouds texture has been updated.
- After closing an Anvil or Enchanting Table, the XP bar is now shown for 5 seconds instead of the Locator Bar.
- The Ghastling model is now smaller and closer to its collision size.
- Leash knots now play a sound when destroyed.
Vanilla Parity
- Boats can now be pulled out of the water using a Lead.
Bug Fixes
- Placing a new Dried Ghast Block in the same spot as an old one no longer causes it to age faster than normal.
- The Beacon now renders from any loaded chunk in worlds versioned 1.21.90 and higher.
- The /camera default command now properly resets third-person camera offset values.
- Entities that should not move now stay completely still.
- Clouds no longer have a pink or yellow tint at sunrise or sunset.
- Black screens no longer appear on some Android 15 devices with Xclipse GPUs when Vibrant Visuals is enabled.
- Volumetric lighting now looks better on Xbox One and Xbox One X with Vibrant Visuals enabled.
- Items equipped in the off-hand are no longer displaced when the game is paused.
- Clouds now render correctly during split-screen gameplay.
- Ghast fireballs and some entities no longer appear green due to a color processing bug.
- Fixed inconsistent pixels on Pale Oak Boats to match other boat items.
- The Green Harness now appears with the correct texture when Vibrant Visuals is enabled, instead of the gray harness.
- Happy Ghast and Ghastlings no longer visually overlap with adjacent blocks.
- Mobs and players no longer float above their mounts.
- Mobs' and players' legs are now more horizontal when riding, reducing clipping into the mount.
- Ghastlings are no longer rotated sideways when riding Boats or Chest Boats.
- The shadows of Ghast and Happy Ghast no longer appear on their tentacles when Fancy Graphics are enabled.
- Leashes attached to Happy Ghast now render correctly when it is harnessed.
- Cows and Mooshrooms now always display just one leash when attached to a Happy Ghast.
- The size of harnessed Happy Ghast now matches its unharnessed size.
- Happy Ghast immediately loses collision with entities upon death.
- Ghasts no longer spawn in spaces that are too small, preventing suffocation on spawn.
- The Wandering Trader now properly holds leashes between its hands.
- Spiders and Cave Spiders can once again spawn with Stray riders in cold biomes and with Wither Skeleton riders in the Nether.
- Large mobs now correctly show four leashes when attached to a Happy Ghast, even on low graphics settings.
- Player dots on the Locator Bar now move smoothly over large distances.
- The player dot now decreases correctly to the smallest size for a stationary player when another player moves away.
- After closing an Anvil or Enchanting Table, the XP bar is now shown for 5 seconds instead of the Locator Bar.
- You can no longer accidentally interact with the world beneath UI elements.
- In "Joystick & Tap" mode, the joystick is now always visible with certain control schemes.
- Fixed an issue where keyboard button hints would be shown on the death screen.
- The the_end_light_flash sound now plays when a light flashes in The End with Vibrant Visuals enabled.
