MCPE: Observer Guide
In this guide, we'll look at the new block in Minecraft Pocket Edition - the observer. Simply put, the observer allows you to receive a signal on one side and transmit it as a short pulse on the other side, then reset.
You might ask - "What's so special about it and what's its use?" I can answer that this block is great for mechanisms with auto-farms, but here's a simple and clear example for now.
I decided to make and show you a simple mechanism first so you understand the working principle of the observer. So, place the observer itself, and where the side with the square hole is located, place a door next to it, as in the screenshot below.

Next, connect redstone dust to the other side of the observer with the round hole, and place a dispenser opposite the door, as in the screenshot below.

Now let's put some arrows in the dispenser. I decided to put arrows with the Regeneration effect and switched to Survival mode so the arrow's effect would work on me.
Opening the door, an arrow immediately shot out at me and applied the effect.

That's a simple but quite useful mechanism that will be handy on servers. That is, if another player starts opening the door, an arrow will immediately fly at them. You can put TNT, poison arrows, and monster eggs in the dispenser. I think this will definitely scare off an unknown player from your house.
And the scheme below will automatically open and close the door non-stop.

Observers can be placed so that their front and back sides are the top and bottom sides, which is also useful.
In the screenshot below, the door will also open and close in much the same way as the scheme above.

And here's a more complex scheme, but much more useful - a sugarcane farm. It works quite simply. As soon as the sugarcane grows to 3 blocks tall, the observer's signal triggers, then it activates pistons, which in turn break the sugarcane.

The scheme of this mechanism is quite simple, and you can make your own mechanism with an observer based on it =)

There must be a hopper next to the chest.

All the sugarcane will be automatically sent to the chest.

I hope you now have a better understanding of how the observer works in the game. If you have any questions, feel free to write in the comments, and also send your own mechanism schemes =)
