Minecraft Release 1.11.0 - What's New?
We've been waiting a long time for the release of the Minecraft Bedrock 1.11 update for Android, iOS, Windows 10, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but now the developers have finished development and released a major new update called "Village & Pillage". Read the list of changes below to learn about all the new features!
Villages:
- Village overhaul
- Added many buildings and improved generation
- Each biome now has its own village
- New villagers
- Villagers now have textures that match their profession, level, and biome
- Added Mason and Nitwit villagers
- Villagers can now sleep in beds
- Villagers can now work at their workstations and return home at night
- Improved villager pathfinding
- All old villagers will be automatically updated in existing worlds
- Zombie villager skins now match their biome and profession
- Villager workstations
- Villagers can now change their profession if a workstation is nearby
- Cartography Table - a quick way to copy and expand maps. Maps can be locked using glass panes
- Grindstone - used to repair weapons and tools, removes enchantments from enchanted items
- Barrel - functions like a chest, but can be used even if an entity or another block is above it
- Smoker - cooks food much faster than a regular furnace
- Blast Furnace - a quick way to smelt ore
- Composter - turns seeds and plants into bone meal
- Stonecutter - a quick way to create stone and cobblestone blocks
- Smithing Table and Fletching Table - functionality will come in future updates
- Trading
- Added many new trades
- Added a visual trading system. The villager will hold the item they want to trade in their hand, and if the player has what they want, they will show it
- Villagers gain experience for each successful trade. After a certain amount of experience, villagers level up, unlocking more new trades!
- Villagers will restock their trade goods when they arrive at their workstation
- Wandering Traders
- Spawns randomly in villages and stays for 2-3 in-game days
- Offers trades from all biomes!
- Always accompanied by two llamas!
- Bells
- Villagers hide in their houses when bells ring
- Bells ring when interacted with by a player or powered by redstone
Raids
- Pillager Outposts
- Generate in the same biomes as villages
- Pillagers spawn near outposts
- There is a loot chest!
- Pillager Captain
- Identified by a pillager banner and can be found at outposts
- A player who kills the captain receives the Bad Omen effect
- Raids
- A raid starts if a player with the Bad Omen effect enters a village
- Pillagers attack the village in waves
- Players who successfully defend all waves receive the Hero of the Village effect, granting big discounts when trading with villagers
- Ravager
- A new and very powerful mob. Walks with patrols and appears during raids
- Destroys some blocks (crops, leaves)
- Other mobs (pillagers, vindicators) can ride the ravager
- Pillager Patrols
- You can encounter them in any biome, be careful!
New Features
- Campfire
- New light source
- Great as a fireplace since it doesn't set blocks on fire
- Can cook up to four food items at once!
- Sweet Berries
- New food
- Sweet berry bushes can be found in taigas
- Beware of the sharp thorns!
- Bamboo Jungles
- Generate in jungles and are denser in the new bamboo biome
- Plethora of Cats - befriend twenty stray cats
- Monster Hunter - defeat a ravager
- Buy Low, Sell High - trade for the best price
- Disenchantment - use a grindstone on an enchanted item to get experience
- We're Being Attacked! - trigger a pillager raid
- Sound the Alarm! - ring a bell to alert villagers of an enemy invasion
- This Will Be the End - kill a pillager captain
- Skin Sync
- Selected skin from a skin pack now automatically syncs across all devices
- Some skins cannot be synced
- Accessibility
- Enable screen reader for UI elements
- Enable text-to-speech for chat
- These options are available in the game settings
Changes
- Note: The reworked village generator may cause villages to appear in places where they were not present in previous versions of the game
- Added new seeds for quick selection
- Added even more new textures for blocks, including stained glass
- Changes to how cats spawn in villages:
- Cats now spawn based on the number of beds in the village
- Number of cats = 1/4 of the number of beds
- Maximum 10 cats per village
- Lecterns now emit redstone particles when pages are turned
- Darkened the game interface
