Minecraft Live 2021: Mob Comparison

This Saturday, October 16, 2021, the annual event for all Minecraft fans will take place as an online stream! During it, the developers will announce their new projects, show the next major update, and hold the mob vote.

In this article, we have described the main features of the mobs so you can finally decide which mob to vote for tomorrow!

Glare

• Flying mob
• Doesn't like darkness
• The mob is an alternative to using F3
• Bedrock Edition doesn't have F3, making it hard to know the light level for monster spawning
• The Glare flies in dark areas, showing the player if the area is dark enough for monsters to spawn
• It is currently unknown how the mob will spawn — naturally or the player will create it
• It is unknown how the mob will detect dark areas, considering that some monsters spawn at higher light levels

Allay

• Useful for those who like to collect items
• Does not destroy chests or break other blocks
• The Allay is a flying mob
• It loves music
• The player can give it an item, and the Allay will go search for identical or similar items
• Can collect items that don't stack
• It is recommended to place a hopper with a chest next to a note block to collect all the resources it finds
• The Allay has two slots: one for the item to search for and the second for found items
• It is unknown how the mob will spawn
• It is unknown how the mob will determine when to drop items

Copper Golem

• Walking mob
• A small relative of Iron Golems!
• The player can use copper to create it
• If the Copper Golem wins, the developers will add copper buttons
• The mob will randomly press copper buttons
• Useful for interacting with mechanisms
• Oxidizes over time
• On the golem's head there is a lightning rod. A lightning strike removes oxidation from the mob
• A fully oxidized Copper Golem turns into a statue
• An axe removes oxidation
• It is unknown how the mob will be created (via crafting table or like an iron golem)
• The mob will not spawn naturally like Iron Golems
• It is unknown if the mob will spawn in any oxidation stage
• The developers have an idea to connect the mob with archaeology
