100 Million Sales of Minecraft!
Mojang shared their new milestone in selling licenses for one of their popular games Minecraft. Currently, the number of copies sold has reached almost 107 million worldwide. This includes copies sold for PC/Java Edition, console editions, Pocket Edition, and Windows 10.
It's worth noting that Minecraft was created in 2010 by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson, who later founded Mojang. The first million copies were sold in January 2011. Since then, the number of purchased copies has increased a hundredfold.
From Mojang's graph, we see that 106,859,714 copies have been sold so far (while you were reading this, a few hundred more copies were sold =) ). The average daily sales are about 53,000 copies. Interestingly, the company recorded that four copies were purchased in Antarctica, so even there are fans of this product. It also shows how sales looked on specific platforms. The most popular versions are for mobile devices, followed by console editions, and finally PC versions.
Let's congratulate the developers on this achievement and wish them to quickly reach the first 1 billion copies sold of this wonderful game =)
