Minecraft Beta 1.16.0.57 - What's New?

A new test version of Minecraft Bedrock Beta 1.16.0.57 has been released for Android, Windows 10, and Xbox One. It not only fixes bugs but also adds a lot of new content for the Nether Update!

What's new in the game?

Basalt Deltas

• This biome is the remains of volcanic eruptions
• As you pass through, you will be surrounded by white ash
• Magma cubes now spawn in this biome!
• Blackstone can be found here in large quantities

Ruined Portals

• Remnants of ancient Nether portals can now be found in the Nether and the Overworld!
• Ruined portals may contain crying obsidian blocks!

Bastion Remnants

• Added 4 types of bastions: bridge, hoglin stable, housing units, and treasure room
• Bastions can be found in any Nether biome except Basalt Deltas
• Explore bastions if you want to find valuable resources, but remember that piglins don't like thieves!
• Added a new music disc called "Pigstep" with a track by Lena Raine, which can be found in bastions
• Added chain blocks

World Generation

• Added generation of blackstone and gravel in all Nether biomes at lava level and below
• Added generation of soul sand patches in Soul Sand Valleys at lava level and below
• Added new vines for Crimson and Warped Forests
• Nether gold ore can now generate in the Nether!

Blackstone

• Added a new set of stone blocks made from blackstone!
• Added gilded blackstone, which can drop gold nuggets
• These blocks can be found in bastions
• Blackstone can be used to craft a furnace
• Blackstone can be used to craft stone tools

Lodestone (Experimental!)

• Crafted from a netherite ingot and chiseled stone bricks
• Use a compass on this block to make it point to this lodestone block

Respawn Anchor

• The respawn anchor can be used to set your spawn point in the Nether!
• Use glowstone to charge this block
• Each respawn consumes one charge
• A dispenser can charge the respawn anchor!

Striders

• These are neutral mobs that wander the Nether
• They are not hostile to each other
• They spawn in lava and have fire resistance
• If a Strider is not in lava, it freezes, shivers, and moves slower
• Use warped fungus to breed two striders and create a baby strider
• A Strider can be ridden, but you need to equip it with a saddle
• Use a fungus on a stick to steer the Strider!
• Baby striders follow their parents

Zoglins

• These are zombified hoglins that appear if a Hoglin is in the Overworld
• Unlike Hoglins, they cannot be bred or fed
• Be careful! Zoglins attack almost everything they see!

How to Craft Netherite Tools and Armor

• Add one of your diamond tools or armor to a smithing table along with a netherite ingot
• The smithing table will show the result in the right slot!

New Enchantment: Soul Speed

• Soul sand and soul soil slowed down player movement, but with the new enchantment, this problem can be solved!
• There is a downside: the enchantment slowly damages boots for each soul block the player walks on
• The enchantment can be obtained by trading with Piglins

New Blocks

• Hyphae from crimson and warped stems, including their stripped versions, can now be crafted!
• Nether gold ore can be mined with any pickaxe and drops gold nuggets
• Added soul fire campfire
• Added chiseled nether bricks, cracked nether bricks, and quartz brick blocks

Music and Sounds

• Added new music tracks by Lena Raine!
  • Rubedo plays in the Nether wastes
  • Chrysopoeia plays in Crimson Forests
  • So Below plays in Soul Sand Valleys
• Added new sounds for Crimson Forests, Warped Forests, and Soul Sand Valleys

Changes:

  • Oak and birch saplings grown within two blocks of a flower now have a 5% chance to generate a tree with a bee nest
  • Villager trading is now similar to Java Edition
  • Added new sounds for honey block and honeycomb block
  • Hoe can now mine Nether Wart, and you can dig Nether Wart Block, Warped Wart Block, Hay Bale, Dried Kelp Block, Target Block, and Shroomlight
  • Mobs that panic now do so for all types of damage
  • Creepers now deal damage while in a boat on water

• Kick and Ban Changes
  • Kicking
    • Problematic players can be removed from the server
    • Any player with operator privileges can kick players
    • Kicked players cannot reconnect to the game
  • Kick command
    • The '/kick' command can disconnect a player from the server, specifying a reason
    • Selectors can be used for the kick command, e.g., '/kick @a[team=Red]'
  • Ban and player permissions
    • Realm owners can now edit player permissions using a special menu
    • The Realm name is now displayed in the pause menu
• Spawn Point Command
  • The spawn point command can now be used in the Nether

In addition, developers fixed a huge number of bugs and added new features for Add-ons and the Scripting Engine (Windows 10)!

Tips for Players:

• Use the command '/locate bastionremnant' to get coordinates to the nearest bastion
• Use the command '/locate ruinedportal' to get coordinates to a ruined portal
• Use the command '/enchant @s soul_speed' to enchant boots with Soul Speed
