Minecraft PE 1.2: New Inventory Interface and Recipe Book!
The developers of Minecraft Pocket Edition continue to share news about the upcoming game update - 1.2. And now, Jason Major has shown fresh screenshots showing the updated crafting interface, and also confirmed that a recipe book will appear in MCPE.
I'll start with the recipe book. But don't think it's an item you need to craft.
You can access the recipe book from the inventory interface as well as the crafting table. To do this, click the button with the green book icon (Screenshots below are from PC!)

How does the recipe book work? Very simple, because this mechanic is somewhat reminiscent of automatic crafting in MCPE at the moment! For example, by chopping down a tree, you unlock the recipe for planks. By getting planks, you unlock the recipe for sticks, wooden pressure plates, and so on.

It really works simply. And if the player's inventory doesn't have enough items for a certain craft, it will be highlighted in red.

Now let's go back to Minecraft PE. On mobile devices, as well as Windows 10, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, the inventory, crafting, and recipe book interface in 1.2 will differ from Java Edition.

But it's not yet clear whether this interface will be default on Android and iOS, or if the pocket interface will remain as it is now.
And finally. On maps, you will now be able to see icons of other players' skins, which is quite useful.
