Minecraft 26.40.30 [Beta]

The developers have released the Minecraft 26.40.30 beta. The headline is the arrival of Cushions to rest on and the Straw Bed, which lets you sleep through the night without changing your spawn point. Cushions are crafted from Wool Slabs, and the Straw Bed from Hay Bales. Along with the new content, this update brings 6 changes and 32 bug fixes.

Please note: the update will begin rolling out later today, as soon as it's ready.

To try out the new content, enable experimental features when creating a world. Here's what's new:

• Cushion:
  • An item you can place in the world and interact with to sit on.
  • Crafted in 16 color variants from 3 Wool Slabs of the same color.
  • A Cushion can be placed on any flat surface.
  • It can't move, breaks when the supporting block is removed, has no collision, and can overlap with other objects — except other Cushions.
  • Known issue: Cushions don't currently generate in Abandoned Camps, but they can be found in the creative inventory.
• Straw Bed:
  • A new type of bed that lets you sleep through the night without changing your spawn point.
  • It can be used only once and is destroyed afterward.
  • It doesn't work in the Nether or the End, and breaks if you try to sleep on it there.
  • Crafted from 3 Hay Bales, yielding 4 Straw Beds at once.
• Abandoned Camp:
  • Now generates in the Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes.
  • Straw Beds can now be found in the camps.
  • Camps now place procedural trees.
  • Fixed incorrect potion names in the loot tables.
• Dappled Forest:
  • Adjusted the biome's fog settings to match other forest biomes.
  • Updated the MERS textures for orange, red, and yellow Poplar Leaves.
• Updated the ambient sounds for Poplar leaves.
• Added dedicated sound events for Red Shrubs and Poplar leaves.
• Added opaque versions of Poplar leaves to fix the black background issue.
• Added the missing recipes for Wool Stairs and Wool Slabs.

Changes

6 changes made. Here's the rundown:

• The focus indicator on the "More options" button on the start screen is now underlined when focused.
• Brown and Red Mushrooms now generate on Crimson and Warped Nylium regardless of the light level.
• Updated the list of supported devices for Vibrant Visuals on Android.
• Game servers now attempt to self-repair some player connection issues.
• The "Pause Game" setting is now shown in the Main Menu.
• Updated Marketplace content cards and badges: new pass and rating icons, and refreshed Minecoin visuals.

Bug Fixes

32 bugs fixed. The highlights:

• The focus indicator on the "More options" button on the start screen no longer relies on color alone.
• Azalea and Flowering Azalea are no longer see-through when viewed from below.
• Brown and Red Mushrooms can no longer be placed under the open sky in the dark.
• In Education Edition, charcoal can once again be placed in the Lab Table.
• Fixed a miscolored pixel in one of the Sulfur Spike textures.
• Structure loot no longer differs on the same seed.
• Fixed a Vibrant Visuals issue that could make some items and text invisible on certain Android GPUs.
