The "Update Aquatic" - What Does It Look Like?
The developers of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (Android, iOS, Windows 10, Xbox One) continue to work hard on the upcoming major update 1.3. But if you have a PC running Windows OS, right now you can test the first snapshot for Minecraft: Java Edition, which adds some content from the "Update Aquatic"!
What's New in the Game?
Here's a brief list of changes in snapshot 18w07a:
- Added Phantoms (mob from Minecon 2017!)
- Added Turtles
- Added a new swimming ability (sprint underwater!)
- Added Bubble Columns
- Added a new weapon - the Trident
- Squids now release ink to defend themselves
- Added Kelp and Seaweed
- Items now float to the surface of water
- Added Prismarine Stairs and Slabs
PHANTOMS
You look tired. When was the last time you slept well? Bad things happen to those who don't sleep... hallucinations start to appear.
- Phantoms spawn in the Overworld and the End
- They attack players who haven't slept for a long time
- Upon death, they drop leather (the drop may change by release)
TURTLES
Turtles move, and they're huge!
- They spawn on warm beaches, but this is temporary
- They can lay eggs
- You can craft a whole shell from shards of their old shell.
And wear it on your head!
Or create a new potion!
Turtles are known for their strength, but not speed. - Please be kind to the little turtles.
KELP AND SEAWEED
Green in blue!
- Seaweed generates in oceans, but this is temporary
- Seaweed does not generate in deep oceans, but this is temporary
- Seaweed can be dried in a furnace
A tasty snack for an adventurer in Minecraft's waters!
It can also be used as fuel in a furnace
Or just use the blocks for building
BUBBLE COLUMNS
Blub blub blub blub.
- They don't generate anywhere yet, but this is temporary
- They appear when you place a magma block underwater
- Beware, or you might get sucked in!
- An easy way to breathe underwater
STRIPPED LOGS
Use an axe to get a log without bark!
TRIDENTS
Some say throwing your only weapon is a bad idea. We disagree.
- Right-click to throw the trident
- Left-click to strike
- For now, it cannot be obtained in survival; this will be fixed
- Very powerful, but will be balanced soon
- It has four enchantments:
Loyalty: the trident returns to you
Impaling: useful for fighting underwater creatures
Riptide: pulls the player forward
Channeling: works only during rain and creates lightning at the point where it was thrown - The inventory icon is not yet implemented
This is just a small part of the "Update Aquatic". By the full release, even more new features await us!
For Android, iOS, Windows 10, and Xbox One, the update is in development.
