Minecraft 1.26
The first drop of 2026 is an upcoming Minecraft update releasing as version 26.10 for Bedrock Edition. The main theme of the update is "cuteness" and emotional attachment to mobs. Developers have reworked the appearance of baby mobs, added a new plant, and introduced the long-awaited Name Tag crafting recipe.
New Version Numbering System
Starting in 2026, Minecraft is switching to year-based version numbering. After version 1.21, the game jumps straight to versions in the format 26.X — the first two digits indicate the year. This will make tracking updates simpler and more intuitive.
Golden Dandelion
A new plant that does not generate naturally in the world.
- Crafted at a Crafting Table using a Dandelion and 8 Gold Nuggets.
- Stops the growth of baby mobs when used on them. Using it again resumes growth.
- Does not work on undead mobs, Piglins, or Villagers.
- Used to craft Yellow Dye and Suspicious Stew with the Saturation effect.
- Cannot be composted and does not attract Bees.
- When dropped on the ground, attracts Piglins.
Name Tag
The Name Tag has existed in the game for a long time, but could never be crafted — players had to find it in dungeon chests. Now a crafting recipe has been added:
- Iron Nugget + Paper → Name Tag
Baby Mobs
This is the centerpiece of the update. Developers have reworked the models and textures of baby mobs for more than 30 species:
- Updated babies: Axolotl, Polar Bear, Armadillo, Camel, Wolf, Mooshroom, Dolphin, Villager, Zombie, Zombie Villager, Zombified Piglin, Husk, Goat, Cow, Cat, Chicken, Llama, Trader Llama, Fox, Horse, Zombie Horse, Skeleton Horse, Mule, Sheep, Donkey, Ocelot, Piglin, Bee, Glow Squid, Pig, Squid, Drowned, Turtle.
- Key changes:
- Armor, carpets, chests, and saddles no longer render on the baby mobs listed above.
- Baby Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Husks, Drowned, Piglins, and Zombified Piglins now have unique textures for worn armor.
- The baby Drowned is now officially named gurgle.
- New sounds have been added for wolf pups, kittens, piglets, chicks, and foals.
- The Rabbit has received a fully updated model, animations, and textures, along with a new idle animation.
New Animal Sounds
Some animals have received new sound variations that reflect the personality of a particular individual.
- Cat — regal
- Chicken — finicky
- Cow — grumpy
- Pig — large and small
The existing sounds have become the "classic" variation.
Trumpet
A new instrument — the Trumpet — has been added.
- To hear it, place a Note Block on top of a Copper Block.
- The sound changes depending on the oxidation stage of the copper.
Furnace Recipe Book
This feature will be part of the summer drop, but you can already test it now!
- Enabled in world experiments.
- Displays smelting recipes directly in the Furnace interface.
Where to Try It Now
Some features of the first 2026 drop are already available in Bedrock Edition version 26.0 under the "Drop 1 of 2026" experiment. The official release date has not yet been announced.
