Minecraft 0.12.1 Alpha for Android and Windows 10 — a massive test update adding new blocks, items, mobs, the potion system, the Nether with fortresses, enchantments, as well as numerous fixes and technical improvements.

Changes

• Enchanting table, anvils, brewing stand, and potion system (including splash potions).
• Enchanted books with various effects.
• Nether blocks and items: soul sand, quartz ore, fences, slabs, nether wart, ghast tear, blaze rod and powder, etc.
• New food and resources: golden carrot, glistering melon slice, poisonous potato, rotten flesh.
• Mobs: Blaze, wither skeleton, charged creeper, iron and snow golems, ocelots, zombie villagers.
• Experience, hunger, sprinting, sneaking, difficulty levels, and critical hits.
• Weather: rain, snow, thunderstorm.
• Cross-platform play between Pocket Edition and Windows 10.
• Controller and keyboard support with customizable controls.
• The Nether is now infinite, with fortresses and portal frames up to 23×23.

Vanilla Parity

• The Nether and portals work like in Java Edition.
• Zombie villagers retain profession and clothing, like in Java 1.9.
• Snow golems’ pumpkins can be removed with shears.
• Lava mechanics and biome generation aligned with Java Edition.

Fixed Bugs

• Fixed over 70 bugs, including crashes and world generation issues.
• Fixed auto-jump, flying, mob behavior, and block interaction bugs.
• Fixed interface issues (HUD, hotbar, armor, Creative inventory).
• Fixed graphic bugs: particles, water darkening, sand and lava behavior.
• Fixed multiplayer and cross-platform sync issues.
• Fixed audio engine issues on Android and support for 32-bit devices.

Technical Changes

• Nether Reactor removed from crafting and inventory.
• Updated block rendering, lighting, snow layers, and fluid mechanics.
• Sounds aligned with Java Edition: new sounds for mobs, water, lava, and items.
• Hotbar, inventory, and UI elements redesigned and optimized.
• Optimized chunk generation, AI performance, and multiplayer stability.
• Xperia Play support removed due to the introduction of universal controllers.
