Minecraft 1.21.90.03

The developers have released the final version of Minecraft 1.21.90.03 for Android. The summer drop “Chase the Skies” brings the Happy Ghast, the Harness, and an entirely new graphics mode to the game.

Summer Drop

Update 1.21.90 adds a variety of new items, mobs, and visual improvements:

• Dried Ghast:
  • A new block.
  • Found in Nether Fossil structures.
  • When waterlogged, it undergoes 3 stages before turning into a Ghastling.
  • A new achievement "Stay Hydrated!" has been added.
• Ghastling:
  • A juvenile form of the Happy Ghast.
  • Appears after hydrating a Dried Ghast block.
• Happy Ghast:
  • A new flying mount.
  • The rear player is the pilot; others are passengers.
  • Can be equipped with a Harness and ridden by up to 4 players.
  • Spawn Egg available.
  • Heals faster during rain or snow.
  • Displays 4 leashes when pulling multiple entities.
• Harness:
  • Crafted using leather, glass, and colored wool.
  • Comes in 16 color variants.
  • Equippable only on the Happy Ghast.
• New music disc "Tears" by Amos Roddy:
  • Dropped when a Ghast is killed by its own fireball deflected by a player.
• Five new tracks by Amos Roddy:
  • Play in various biomes: "Below and Above", "Broken Clocks", "Fireflies", "Lilypad", "O's Piano".
• Vibrant Visuals is now the default graphics mode:
  • Includes customizable color grading, atmosphere, lighting, and water.
  • Unique settings for each biome.
  • Updated visuals for foliage, water, shadows, clouds, and many blocks.
• Player Locator:
  • New HUD element that shows the direction of other players.
  • Replaces the XP bar when multiple players are in the world.
  • Supports vertical arrows for elevation differences.
  • Players can hide by wearing a carved pumpkin, mob head, or using invisibility.

Gameplay Changes

• Beacon beam height increased to 2048 blocks.
• Lead mechanics updated:
  • Now crafted with only String.
  • You can now tether one mob to another (chains of leads).
  • Can be detached using Shears.
  • Mobs follow more smoothly while airborne, without erratic motion.
  • Leads now break at 12 blocks, or 16 for Happy Ghast.
• Shears can now unlink mobs from leads.
• Saddle changes:
  • New recipe: 3 Leather + 1 Iron Ingot.
  • Can be removed from mobs using Shears.
  • More Leather now appears in loot chests instead of Saddles.
• New ambient sound effects for Dry Grass.
• Mooshroom Spawn Egg now uses a unique texture.

Technical Changes

Updates useful for add-on and map creators. Highlights include:

• New API versions 2.0.0 and 2.1.0-beta:
  • Expanded events for inventory, hotbars, and containers.
  • New components: Hunger, Saturation, Exhaustion.
  • More flexibility with custom components (V2).
• Vibrant Visuals:
  • Supports custom color grading, lighting, and water per biome.
  • The ";" key no longer toggles graphics modes.
• MERS texture updates:
  • Glow effects added for Ghast, Harness, Ancient Debris, and more.
  • Improved reflectiveness of glass and metals.
• Custom Components V2:
  • Now support string, array, object, boolean, and number types.
  • The "Custom Components V2" experiment is no longer required.
• Server and UI updates:
  • New joystick visibility and control settings.
  • Added localization keys and new camera properties.
• Jigsaw structures:
  • Improved placement in water and liquid handling.

Bug Fixes

Version 1.21.90 includes 145 bug fixes, including:

• Fixed rendering issues in Vibrant Visuals (water, shadows, lighting).
• Fixed a bug where players became invisible when riding the Happy Ghast.
• Improved behavior of boats, leads, and shear interactions.
• Resolved issues with music effects and sand sounds.
• Performance improvements for Android, PS5, split-screen, and custom cameras.
