Map: Langton's Ant
Langton's Ant — is a visual implementation of an amazing two-dimensional cellular automaton right in Minecraft. It works by just two rules. When encountering a black square, the ant turns 90° left, repaints the cell white, and takes a step forward. On a white square, it's the opposite: it turns 90° right, paints the cell black, and also moves forward.
It would seem the rules are very simple, but they lead to surprisingly complex behavior. For a while, the ant moves chaotically, and after about 7500 steps it suddenly begins to build a clear, orderly path. Thus amazing results are born from simplicity. To run the algorithm on the map, just press a button.
